Obituary of Linda L. Shelley

Linda L. Shelley Age 77, of Joliet, IL, passed peacefully, Monday June 13, 2016 at Presence Villa Franciscan Nursing Home. She was born October 5, 1938 to the late Leona (nee McCleish) and Jack Shelley in Joliet where she lived her entire life. Dearest Aunt of Gary Holmes, Michael (Lori) Holmes, Randy (Lisa) Holmes, Guy (Donna) Shelley and Amber (Tom) Dennison. Loving and devoted great aunt of Jeremy, Jon, Hayley, Nick; Matthew, Jason; Patrick, Nathan; Scott; the late Guy Jr., Robyn, Jay and Ginger. Several cousins also survive. In addition to her parents and great nephew, she is preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth " Betty" (late Charles) Holmes and brother, John (late Marilyn) Shelley. Linda, a retired Industrial Nurse for Commonwealth Edison for many years, was an active parishioner of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and a member of the Paulites. She was also active with the Auxiliary of Presence St. Joseph Medical Center, incidentally receiving her nurses training at the "old St. Joe's" years ago. In her younger years, she enjoyed golf and skiing, however, as the years went by, her passion was being extremely involved in the lives of her family. Linda's family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of Villa Franciscan for their care and kindness as well as Jean Neubeck and caregivers for creating a comfortable, loving environment for Linda in between stays at the Villa. She will be remembered fondly as a very generous, kind and selfless woman who was extremely loyal to her family and faith. As it was Linda's wish, cremation rites will be accorded. All friends and relatives can gather on Friday, June 17, 2016 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet from 9:00 a.m. until the Memorial Service begins at 10:30 a.m. Inurnment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park II.
