Sherwood and my cousin Lorraine were very much guiding lights to me as a young teenager. I spent two summers with them on their farm and have forever since regarded them as my first mentors. Fun, family, respect, education. The Regional fairs, weekend sightseeing (always had 'just a quick stop' to see a man a sheep, a whatever.). Sherwood dubbed me 'sobby' Serby as a 14 year old And when I last saw him he reminded me, and told my husband, how I got that name. I really did not want to go back to Arizona. RIP Sherwood, the winner of A race well run, a goal well won. Forever in my heart.

Sherwood was a true gentleman and the definition of a true gentleman. He was kind to everyone, including me when I was 9 years old and stood last with my ewe lamb. He was a very positive influence on many young people who later became good in careers that he mentored them in at a young age. The world will miss Sherwood Jackson.

My family and I will always remember the games of Old Maid where Sherwood always managed to lose, letting the littlest ones win. We laughed until we had tears in our eyes. It was so fun.
