Obituary of Shirley M. Cooper

Shirley M. Cooper (nee Stroh) At rest, suddenly Friday, June 24, 2016 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center. Born September 21, 1929 in Joliet to Henry and Mildred (nee Risk) Stroh, and a lifelong Joliet resident. Shirley was an avid gardener, and loved to bowl, play euchre, and visit the casino. She was Past President of Cantigny Post #367 Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Joliet Rivals Club. Surviving are her children, Kathy (Jack) Lusinger, Peggie (Rich) Ferguson, Maribeth Cooper and Douglas Cooper; her grandchildren, Dianne Lusinger, John (Melissa) Lusinger, Jeremy (Tiaa) Ferguson, Shannon Fox, Branden Ferro, Jackie Cleckler, Toni Cooper, Axl Cooper, Sam Cooper, Janejira Cooper; and her great-grandchildren, Cole, John, Caleb, Madison, Jacie, Lena, Hayley, Vaughn and Elijah. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Calvin Cooper (1994); and her siblings, Richard, James and Francis "Buddy" Stroh. Funeral services for Shirley Cooper will be held Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 353 N Midland Ave, Joliet, where visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Woodlawn Memorial Park will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Rainbow Hospice or Faith Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
