John Joseph Crowe, Sr.
Age 80, of Sun City Center, FL passed away Friday, July 8, 2016 at Joliet Area Community Hospice surrounded by his loving family. Born in Joliet. A proud U.S. Army veteran, 82nd Airborne Division and 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment. Retired from ComEd, Dresden Nuclear as an Instrument Technician. During retirement, he drove a tractor trailor for M&D Transfer in Bourbonnais, IL, something he really enjoyed. A member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, (FL Chapter), Knights of Columbus (FL Chapter). Moved to Florida in 1999. John boxed in the "Golden Gloves" 1951-1953.
Survived by his wife, Marianne; sons, John Jr. (Denise), Michael, Jeffrey and Jason (Jane); grandchildren, Lauren, Sean and Mary; and brothers, James (Jolene) and William (Nancy).
Preceded in death by his grandson, Saxon.
Funeral Services for John J. Crowe, Sr. will be held Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to Church of St. Jude for 10:00 a.m. Memorial Mass. Cremation Rites will be accorded following visitation. Family and friends are invited to meet Thursday, at 2:30 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Road, Elwood, IL where inurnment with full military honors under the auspices of the United States Army will take place.
