Obituary of Dennis Patrick Welch

Dennis Patrick Welch "Denny" Age 77. At rest Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Born December 12, 1938 in Plymouth County, IA to Raymond and Elizabeth (nee Hamel) Welch. Retired from EJ & E Railroad in 2001 after 43 years of service. Survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Sandra A. (nee Lenci); his loving children, Dennis Raymond (Catherine) and Patrick Michael (Vanessa); proud grandfather of two, Kathryn (Josh) Diehl and Justin (Stephanie) Welch; cherished great-grandfather of five, Ella, Jackson and Lila Diehl and Mackenzie and Alexander Clay; two brothers, James and Robert (Mary); five sisters, Phyllis Jordan, Kathleen (Herman) Herbeck, Joan Henke, Margaret (Dennis) Devine and Colleen (Richard) Wade; three brothers-in-law, Robert (JoAnne) Lenci, Tom (Kathy) Lenci and Gregory Siska; two sisters-in-law, Pamela Terrell and Nancy O'Brien; and uncle of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother. Denny will be missed by his wife and children, but especially his grandchildren and great- grandchildren, whom he enjoyed spending time with. Memorial Services for Dennis Welch will be held Monday, July 25, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to Holy Family Catholic Church, 600 N. Brookforest Drive, Shorewood for Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation Sunday, 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. For more information: (815) 741-5500.
