Edna quietly departed this life on August 12, 2016 at Hope Hospice in Bonita Springs, Florida.
She is the daughter of the late Fred and Dora M. (nee Allen) Messer and was born on November 2, 1933 in Hardshell, KY. She was educated in the Brathitt County School System and graduated from Robinson High School in Ary, KY.
Edna attended nursing school in Louisville, KY where she graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Edna was united in marriage to Louis R. Peyla, the love of her life in December 1976 and he preceded her in death on March 28, 2014.
Edna was a volunteer at Trinity School where she taught arts and crafts to mentally and physically disabled children. She was also a Cherry Lady at Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet, IL. as a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality she was loved by many. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers that she loved so well, and her influences will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved brothers Wesley, Fred Jr., and Arlie Messer and Stepdaughter Julie Peyla Holladay.
Her beautiful life will forever be treasured in the lives of her children, Debra L. Cain of Marion, IL. and Donna J. (Bill) Bradley of Rydal, GA. Her grandchildren, William D. Clemons, Rocky E. Cain and Jessie L.Cain Stenner. Great grandchildren Maggie, Ava, Isaac, Eli, Zander and Cody. She is also survived by her brothers, Bryan (Mary) Messer and Herdis (Lynn) Allen. Sisters, Lilymae (Sheldon) Campbell, Vicky (Bud) Selent Helen (Carl) Hurschik and Nancy (Carl) Williams. Step children Gregory (Susan) Peyla of Shorewood, Kimberly (Dave Thornton) Edmiston of Joliet, Laurie Rambo of Joliet, Jeffrey (Viola Vega) Peyla of Joliet. Step grandchildren Nicole Edmiston, Seth Peyla, Emma and Ian Rambo. Edna was also survived by her sister-in-law Mary Lou O'Brien Jackson of Highland Beach, FL and very special brother-in-law and sister-in-law Chuck and Patricia Peyla of Ft. Myers, FL.
Funeral services for Edna E. Peyla will be held Thursday August 18, 2016 at 11 am at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home Chapel 3200 Black at Essington Rds Joliet, IL. Fr. Chris Groh officiating. Edna will be entombed at Resurrection Mausoleum following her services with her husband Louis. Visitation THURSDAY MORNING 10 a.m. until time of services.
