Obituary
Obituary of Janet Olga Wilhelmi
Janet Olga Wilhelmi
(nee Tozzi)
Age 73. Passed peacefully at her home. She was born March 29, 1943 in Joliet, IL to Alfeo and Ann (nee Marentic) Tozzi. A lifetime Joliet resident.
Janet graduated from St. Paul the Apostle School, Joliet Township High School, Joliet Junior College and the University of Illinois. She ultimately received her Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from the College of St. Francis. She adored her time spent in high school and was extremely proud of being a JT Central grad. She was especially proud of her "Miss J" title hand selected by Perry Como and equally proud of representing the band as their gold sponsor. While at the University of Illinois, she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.
She found pleasure in serving her community and was involved in many clubs and organizations in Joliet, including Joliet Juniors Club, the Holly Club, Visitation and Aid Society, Parent Teacher Associations, American Cancer Society and the College of St. Francis Board.
Janet had a profound love for her "grand babies" and devoted her life to them. They will miss her dearly, but will cherish the time spent with her having made many treasured memories.
Janet was passionate about travel, cooking, baking, gardening, sewing, painting, antiquing, shopping, art and politics. She had an exceptional knack at decorating and crafts. Everything she touched was made more beautiful.
Survived by her loving children, Dr. Bradon (Erika) Wilhelmi of Louisville, KY and Ann-Marie (Dean) Tomich of Joliet; beloved Nonna to Mia and Ava Tomich; and Brandt Wilhelmi. Also surviving is her mother, Ann Tozzi; siblings, Nola (Gordon) Giarrante and Rick (Mary) Tozzi. Fond aunt of several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her father, Alfeo Tozzi and sister, Elaine Tozzi.
As it was Janet's wish, cremation rites have been accorded.
