Obituary of Alicia Lopez

Alicia Lopez "Ama" Age 81, of Joliet, IL and formerly Bridgeview, IL, passed peacefully at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 23, 2016. She was born December 6, 1934 to the late Rita (Velazquez) and Benjamin Huerta. Beloved wife of 61 years to Francisco Lopez, Sr.; loving mother of Rita (Victor) Morales, Gloria (David) Leyva and Francisco Lopez. Jr.; proud and devoted grandmother of Erica (Eric) Salinas, Monica (Brenda) Rodriguez, Amanda Lopez, Brandon Leyva, Adrian Lopez, Angelina Lopez and Daniel Leyva; dear sister of the late Julia, the late Jesus, Andres, the late Ofelia, Aurora, the late Jose Maria, Enrique and Celia; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. Alicia will be lovingly remembered for her devotion to her family. She prided on hosting family gatherings and bringing the family together. Her gratification in life was spending a long loving marriage with her husband, taking care of her children and grandchildren and her cooking that everyone loved! She also loved to sing songs with her siblings and the constant celebrations of life and family! Funeral services for Alicia Lopez will be held Saturday, August 27, 2016, 9:15 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet, to Holy Family Catholic Church in Shorewood where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to her family would be appreciated for future disbursement to several causes dear to Alicia. Visitation Friday from 3 - 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
