Age 54, of Shorewood, passed away peacefully, Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, surrounded by her loving family and friends
Born March 15, 1962 in Joliet, she was the only child of Henry and Delores "Laurie" (Veal) Berry. She was a graduate of Joliet West High School, and Illinois State University.
Following graduation from college, she worked as a counselor for Guardian Angel Home prior to joining the Will County Sheriff's Department where she served 25 years as a Deputy Sheriff, retiring in 2013. Jodi was also a Mary Kay consultant, and was an active volunteer at Rialto Square Theatre for 25 years.
Jodi was a caring and devoted wife, daughter, and mother. Her love for her children knew no boundaries. She will be remembered for many endearing qualities including her loving and unselfish personality.
Surviving are her beloved husband, Thomas F. O'Brien of Shorewood; her children, Ashlyn, Molly, and Colin, all at home; her parents of Rockdale; two aunts, Nancy Kurpaitis and Barbara (Ed) Wilkins; sisters-in-law, Maureen (John) Konopek and Kathleen (Steve) Byrd; brothers-in-law, Patrick (Peg) O'Brien, Richard O'Brien, Timothy O'Brien, Michael (Sue) O'Brien, Lawrence (Julie) O'Brien, and Daniel (Marie) O'Brien; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her beloved dog, Chesney.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Adam and Christine Kurpaitis and Grace Luebs; and her husband's parents, Virginia and James O'Brien.
Funeral services for Jodi O'Brien will be held Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet, to Holy Family Catholic Church, 600 N. Brookforest Drive, Shorewood, for Mass at 10:00 a.m.. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held Wednesday, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice or Rialto Square Theatre would be appreciated.
