Obituary of Anthony J. Gerl

Anthony J. Gerl Age 89, and a lifelong Joliet and Rockdale resident, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at The Symphony of Joliet. Tony was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and retired from Caterpillar, Inc. as manager of the Welding Engineering Department after many years of service. Born December 28, 1926 in Joliet, he was the son of the late John and Jennie Gerl. He married Irene M. Koral, and she preceded him in death on August 25, 2010. One daughter, Susan Gerl also preceded him July 7, 2016. He is survived by his son, Anthony "Tony" (Virginia) Gerl, Jr. of Rockdale. A visitation for Anthony Gerl will be held Sunday, September 25, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation and interment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date.
