Jacquelin "Jackie" Galloway (nee Mills)
Jacquelin "Jackie" Galloway was born May 3, 1925 in Streator, IL. Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at the age of 91 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Charlotte (nee Brown) Mills, husband, Norval B. Jr. (2015) and daughter, Davye Ann Neally (2015). sisters, Jean Edwards and Helen Stevenson; brother Frederick E. Mills III.
Jackie married Norval Galloway, also from Streator, in 1948. Jackie and Norval moved their family to Morris, IL in 1954 where they continued to live until her death in 2016. Together, they raised their children; Julie (Neil) Ott, Norval B. (Patricia Pietrzak) Galloway III, Gary Michael (Sandy) Galloway, John F. Galloway and Laura Flick (Steve Swanson), all of whom survive her. Jacquelin is also survived by 14 grandchildren,10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Jackie lived a robust life. She was caring and generous in spirit. She developed a great many friendships throughout her life. She was an involved parent shepherding her children into adulthood and supporting them all the way. Jackie participated in her community, serving numerous terms on the local grade school board and with various community organizations and countless other organizations volunteering her time
Jackie learned the game of bridge in the late 1950's and was a passionate player for the remainder of her life. Upon marriage, Jackie joined the Catholic Church and was an active member of the church throughout her life. Jackie is a longtime member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris.
Jackie's family would like to express their appreciation and thanks to Marijona Corrigan for the excellent care she provided to Jackie and Norval during the last years of their lives. A special thank you to Integrity Senior Service and the entire staff at the Joliet Community Hospice Home, for their care and compassion give to Jackie these last few weeks, the family will always be grateful.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 516 E. Jackson St., Morris, IL from 9:00 am until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am. As it was her wish, cremation rites will be accorded following mass. Inurnment will be held privately at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Morris, IL. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Joliet / Grundy Community Hospice or a charity of the donor's choice.
