Obituary of Vincent Crnkovic JR

Vincent Frank Crnkovic, Jr. "Sonny" Age 75, passed away July 4, 2010 at Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL surrounded by his loving family. Vince fought a long battle with Guillain Barre and Lung Cancer. Born and raised in Crest Hill and lived in his Rock Run residence for over 40 years. Survived by his loving children; daughters, Melodee (Rex) Easton, Candace Schlesser (Kevin Roche), Desiree (Richard) Fronek; sons, Joseph (Shawn) Crnkovic and John Crnkovic. Nine loving grandchildren, Amy, Beverly, Sara, Benjamin, Erin, Eric, Amber, Michael, Jacelyn and seven great grandchildren. Also survived by sister Marie (Louis deceased) Belom, brothers, Donald (Joan) and Leon (Sharon) Crnkovic, both of California and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife Beverlee "Bunny" (nee Kaiser) in 1973; parents Vincent Sr. and Mary (nee Panian) Crnkovic; infant son Michael and one brother Frank (Joyce) Crnkovic. He became a Teamster member on April 13, 1955 and was employed by Schiek Motor Express until his appointment as Business Representative for Teamsters Local 179, where he served as Vice President over 9 years. He was then nominated and served as Teamsters President Local Union 179 for over 20 years. Former member of the Will County Building and Trades Council, and involved in many labor organizations throughout the Will County area. In this capacity, he dedicated countless hours to serve his fellow Union Brothers. A love for flying, Vince earned his private license certificate and was a familiar face to the Joliet flying community. Vincent will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Funeral services for Vincent Crnkovic, Jr. will be Friday July 9, 2010, 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Ann Catholic Church, Channahon, where a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated. Visitation Thursday from 3-9 p.m. at: FRED C.
