Obituary of Edward Dennis Walsh
Edward D. Walsh
Age 81, of Joliet, formerly of Chicago, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2016 at The Parc of Joliet. Ed was born in Chicago, IL on June 10, 1935. He was the third child born of John and Genevieve (nee Soboleski) Walsh. He served on both the Chicago Fire Department and the Chicago Police Department before moving to Hawaii for several years. Returning to the Chicago area in the early 1980's and most recently residing in Joliet, IL for the past 10 years. Ed also served his country as the member the United States Army. Ed enjoyed sharing his fond memories of his youth, his career as police officer and his family. He enjoyed reading, especially history particularly related to Chicago. As an avid writer, would share some of his memoirs in writing manuscripts of fiction stories.
He is survived by his sister, Mary (Steve) Werning of Camden, South Carolina; sister in law, Suzanne Walsh of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 14 nieces and nephews and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Patricia (John) Nolan and Kathleen Hausheer and brother, John V. Walsh.
Funeral Services for Edward D. Walsh will be Monday, October 3, 2016 at 12 noon at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet, IL. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery with full military honors under the auspices of the United States Army. Visitation Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
