Obituary of Randall J. Devick

Randall J. Devick "Jun" Age 84, late of Morris, IL., passed away Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Regency Care of Morris. He was born January 10, 1932 to the late Julia (Anderson) and Randall E. Devick in Newark, IL where he was raised and educated, a graduate of Newark High School with the class of 1949. He was the beloved husband of Donna (nee Goody) Devick; father of Debbie Young, Doug Devick and Wendy Giannotti; proud grandfather of five and great-grandfather of five; dear brother of Alverna Munson and Royce Devick. Many nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Lyle, and sisters, Maureen Cryder and Muriel Robinson. Randall was engaged in farming for a majority of his career. He passed on the oppurtunity to play Triple A baseball to farm and custom harvest his Newark farm for several years until he began cattle farming. After cattle farming for a number of years, careful speculation led him to becoming a commodities broker, spending 20 years in that profession until retirement. Post retirement, he enjoyed working as a security officer for several years. He will be remembered for his vision and work ethic. He loved the game of baseball and it has been said that with his ability as a young athlete, he quite possibly could have had a shot at the major league level. As it was Randall's wish, cremation rites have been accorded under the direction of the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home and Crematory in Morris, IL. Private services will be held at a later date.
