Beverly J. McEvilly
(nee Loose)
Age 83, of Joliet, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 9, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.
Born December 19, 1932 in Joliet, she was the daughter of Gustav and Veronica (Dolegowski) Loose, and a January, 1951 graduate of Joliet Township High School.
Bev worked as Food Service Manager for Hufford Junior High School, retiring in 1995. She previously was employed by Mertz's Catering and Illinois Bell Telephone Company.
She was an active member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond and past president of the Women's Club. She was also a founding member of Our Lady of Angels Auxiliary. Bev also served as past president of Will County Food Service and was certified by the American School Food Service Association.
Bev will be remembered for her generosity, hospitality and excellent cooking skills. She loved to entertain and serving others always came first. She and her husband also enjoyed traveling together and visiting the casinos. Most of all, she was devoted to her family and was proud of her children and grandchildren, faithfully attending all the activites and school events throughout their lives. One of her joys was organizing her garage sales.
Surviving are her beloved husband of 65 years, Robert K. McEvilly, who she married January 27, 1951. Also surviving are her devoted children, Linda (the late Chet) Minkalis of Naperville, Robert (the late Karen) McEvilly of Plainfield, Daniel (Denise) McEvilly of Joliet, Cindy (Andy) Tomala of Lemont, Thomas (Karen) McEvilly of Shorewood and William McEvilly of Joliet; 12 grandchildren, Melissa Minkalis, Scott and Todd McEvilly, Caitlyn and Kyle McEvilly, Andrew, John and Christina Tomala, Megan, Matthew and Eric McEvilly, and Kirstin Hobbs McEvilly; one great-granddaughter, Madison; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her husband's sister-in-law, Anne McEvilly and her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Irene Hareld, Chuck Loose, Bernice Nieland, Robert Loose and Emily Rolando; a fond sister-in-law, Alyce Loose; and her husband's siblings, James McEvilly and Charlene (Ramon) Obst.
The family can not begin to thank all of the family, friends and caregivers who helped so much to care for Beverly and visiting so often.
Funeral services for Beverly McEvilly will be held Thursday, October 13, 2015 at 10:45 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Memorials in her name to the Cathedral of St. Raymond would be appreciated.
