Adam J. Calkins
"Whitey"
Age 18. Suddenly on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, IL due to complications of asthma. Born in Naperville and a lifelong resident of Plainfield. Graduate of Plainfield Central High School Class of 2016 where he was elected class president for his senior year, affectionately know as "Prez". He thoroughly enjoyed playing rugby for the high school; he was Plainfield's Super Fan and had a love for all kinds of music.
Survived by his parents, Keith and Jennifer (nee Ward) Calkins of Plainfield; one brother, Zachary S. Calkins of Plainifeld; Grandparents, Steve and Annette Horath of Crest Hill, Nancy Calkins of Plainfield, James A. (Kitte) Ward Sr. of Hersher; Aunts and Uncles, James A. (Buffy) Ward Jr. of Hersher, Sean M. Ward of Elwood, Kirk Calkins of Plainfield, Kevin Calkins of Plainfield, Kathe Calkins of Plainfield, Shari Wiley of Georgia; Great Uncle and Aunt Thomas and Michelle Gottfried of Mundelein; Great Uncle, Robert Shive of Indiana; Great-Great Aunt Patricia Coop of Crest Hill; first cousins, Logan (Bailey) Ward of Idaho, Hadan Ward of Hersher, Devin Ward of Hersher, Elizabeth Dunfree of Elwood, Jake Calkins of Plainfield, Ryan Calkins of Plainfield, Hudson Ward of Idaho; cousins, James (Susan) Carey of Joliet, Kathy Coop Luehrs of Joliet, Margaret Carey of Chicago, Michael Carey of Joliet, and Robert Shive of Indiana, Anna and Molly Gottfried. Adam is also survived by numerous cherished family and friends.
Preceded in death by his Grandfather, Robert Calkins of Plainfield; Great Grandparents, William and Nelly Deininger of Crest Hill; Great-Great-Grandparents, Thomas and Geraldine "Goldie" McCulloch of Crest Hill; and Great-Aunts, Judith Shive of Indiana and Sally Golland of Arizona.
As it was characteristic of Adam's generosity, he donated his organs and tissues through the Gift of Hope of Illinois to help several who are in need.
A Memorial Service was held on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at the Plainfield Central High School Gymnasium. A celebration of life followed at Mistwood Gold Course.
