Age 89. Passed away peacefully on November 9, 2016 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice surrounded by her loving family.
Born in 1926 in Chicago. She attended St. Dorothy Grade School and graduated from Mercy High School. She received her Bachelors Degree from Clark University in Dubuque, IA and her Masters Degree from St. Louis University. Margaret entered the Sisters of Charity B.V.M. in Dubuque, IA in 1945. After her profession she taught in grade school, high school and college in New York, Colorado, California, Iowa, and Illinois. While teaching at Mundelein College in Chicago, she left the convent after 25 years of dedicated service and continued teaching in Chicago until she met and married Raymond and moved to Joliet. She taught at St. Mary's Sacred Heart School and was Dean and Senior English Teacher at St. Francis Academy until her retirement. She and her husband enjoyed traveling, the theater and dining out with family and friends.
Preceded in death by her loving husband of 35 years, Raymond S. DeSalvo (2006); her parents, James and Winifred (nee Quinn) Ready; her brothers, James and Raymond Ready; and her sister Marie Ready.
Survived by her brother, Thomas (the late Anna Mae) Ready; Aunt of Anna Mae (the late Richard) Dunbar, Raymond (the late Mary) Ready, Marita Ready, Regan (Renee) Ready, Regina Ready; Great Aunt and Great-Great-Aunt of many; Step-mother to Kimberly Bozych and the late William (Diane) DeSalvo; Grandmother of Nicole DeSalvo (Mark Delsing), Brian (Christina) Bozych, and Jeff Bozych; Great Grandmother of many.

Funeral services for Margaret L. DeSalvo will be Wednesday, November 15, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 18 Woodlawn Ave., Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Enshrinement Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorials in her name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
