Obituary of Stephen Gary Phillips
Stephen G. Phillips
Age 54. Passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 24, 2016, at his late residence. Born in Morris to the late Gary and Marilyn (Beier) Phillips and a lifelong Grundy County resident. Graduate of Coal City High School, Class of 1980. He was a National Merit Scholar and attended the University of Illinois in Champaign. Employed as an Air Traffic Controller at Chicago Center in Aurora, IL for the past 31 years. Member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Morris #1024, an avid fisherman and a big fan of Chicago Blackhawks, White Sox and Bears. A well established "DeadHead." Steve was the kind of guy that planned everything.
Survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Carol (Kingman) Phillips of Morris, IL. Two brothers; Mike (Lisa) Phillips of Lostant, IL and Donald (Melissa) Phillips of Gardner, IL. Dear uncle of Morgan and Ethan Phillips, Ed and Kelly Barry, Joe Kingman and LeeAnn Brackett, his mother-in-law Nadine Kingman, brother-in-law of Diane Barry, Larry Kingman Jr., Barb Masticola and Connie Kingman; several dear friends, including Karen Campbell also survive.
Preceded by his father-in-law, Larry L. Kingman Sr.
Visitation for Stephen G. Phillips will be held at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home located at 1201 West Route 6 at Deerpath Drive, Morris on Monday, November 28 2016, from 4 - 7 p.m. with remembrances at 7 p.m. We encourage all friends and relatives to speak. At his request, cremation rites will follow services. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Fraternal Order of Eagles Building Fund or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
