Died: December 9, 2016 in Joliet, IL
Age 70, of Joliet, IL, passed peacefully, Friday December 9, 2016 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home after a long, courageous battle with multiple myeloma blood cancer.
Survivors include her husband of 41 1/2 years, Raymond Gerald Skaggs, their son, Patrick Skaggs and their daughter, Maureen Skaggs. Sister, Corinne Fuchs; brother-in-law, Robert (Minnie) Skaggs; nieces, Kim (Eric) Magee, Becky (Brad) Foster and Karyn Showers; three nephews, Jeffery (Blessie) Skaggs, Steven (Valerie) Skaggs and Will (Wendy) Skaggs. Many great nieces and great nephews, including Abbey and Luke Foster; Burke and Britt Magee also survive.
Preceded in death by her parents, Lewis University's Professor Emeritus Roger Ashamy and Eleanore (Bjornson) Ashamy; three brothers-in-law, Marc Fuchs, William and Paul Skaggs and one niece, Angela Rhotten.
Sharon graduated from St. Paul's grade school (1960), St. Francis Academy (1964) and the University of Illinois (BA English, 1968 and MA Speech (1969). She taught full-time at Triton College, was a volunteer teacher on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in S.D., worked in the family clothing store in Coal City (Ashamys), taught part-time at Joliet Junior College and retired as a City of Joliet parking deck employee.

Funeral services for Sharon Anne Skaggs will be held Wednesday December 14, 2016 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 710 W. Marion St., Joliet where all friends and relatives can gather from 9:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial is celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation or the International Myeloma Foundation would be appreciated.
