Obituary of Janet R. Hintz

Janet R. Hintz (nee Garavalia) Janet R. Hintz, age 77, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home with her family by her side. Born November 25, 1939 in Joliet, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Josephine (nee Paone) Garavalia. She was a beautician and a homemaker. Janet was a caring and giving person, always helping others. She loved working in the kitchen at Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park and serving meals for the needy at Shepherd's Table. She loved baking her Christmas breads and cookies, crocheting and crafts, gardening and keeping a spotless home. She enjoyed the peace and quiet during their summer vacations at their cottage in Wisconsin. Loving mother of Judith (Jeffrey) Wiedmeyer, Susan (James) Mammosser, and Brian (Kim) Hintz; grand-mother of Alan and Amanda Wiedmeyer, Nicholas and Rachel Mammosser, Abby, Tony and Samantha Hintz, one great-grandchild Kylee, and her sister Norma (the late John) Airola. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family also survive. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernest H. Hintz (2015), her parents Henry and Josephine (nee Paone) Garavalia, two sisters Mary Ann Staniszewski and Theresa Sally and her beloved grandson, Mathew "Mammo" Mammosser. Susan would sincerely like to thank the entire staff at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home for their compassion, love and care given to her mom during her stay. In lieu of flowers, donations in Janet's memory to Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home would be appreciated. Funeral Services for Janet R. Hintz will be Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, 1201 Wyoming Ave, Joliet where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
