Obituary of Elbert Ellis Smith

Elbert Ellis Smith "Smitty" Age 67. Passed away Monday, January 2, 2017 at Morris Hospital with his wife and children by his side. Born in Roscoe Township, IL. He lived in Morris and Channahon for many years before settling in Seneca 15 years ago. Preceded in death by his parents; Paul Raymond and Dorothy (nee McMasters) Smith, his first wife; Sharon, second wife; Michelle, and three brothers; Paul, Eddie, and Jerry Smith. Survived by his beloved wife Mary; her children; Vanessa Helms and Melissa (Dave) Jeszka, and their grandchildren; Cortney, Britney, Emma and Owen. Also servived by his children; Angela Smith, Tandria (Kevin) Robertson, Jeremy Smith, Raymond Smith, Jason Smith, Kyle Smith and Jaclyn (Carl) Van Grevenhof. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, his brothers, Earl (Karen) Smith and Raymond "Jack" Smith; several nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, and friends. Smitty was a pipefitter with local 597. He was a Mason and member of the Moose Club in Morris. He was an avid gun and knife collector, he enjoyed rebuilding and fixing guns. He was an extreme Cubs fan, he didn't miss watching a game if he could help it. He was so excited that they finally won the World Series. He also loved watching the Chicago Bulls and old Gunsmoke episodes. Visitation for Smitty will be Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 3 - 7 p.m. with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. at the Fred C.
