Obituary of Alexander Godfrey

Alexander Godfrey Alexander Godfrey passed away suddenly on his birthday, December 27th, 2016 at age 78. Beloved father of Allison Godfrey (Ken Moore), husband of Jo-Ann (deceased), and dear companion and best friend of Cheryl Rosenkrans. Alex was born in Copper Cliff in 1938, the son of Alexander and Elizabeth (Stull) Godfrey. He loved to talk about his fun and adventurous childhood with his siblings, and close friends in Northern Ontario. Alex is survived by sisters Diane Soule (Jack), Carolyn Cattran (Doug), Susan Konopnicki, Linda Pigott (Brent), and Fraser Godfrey (Terry). Alex worked for years in the steel industry, in Ontario, Quebec, New Jersey, and finally the Chicagoland area before retiring for good in 2011. He was passionate about the Toronto Maple Leafs, despite living in areas with other hockey teams, and always felt that 'this was the year'. He was promised a spot on the parade route, and when that day comes, he will be there in spirit. A celebration of his life will take place on January 7th, 2017 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 West Route 6 at Deerpath Drive, Morris, Illinois. Inurnment to follow this spring in Canada.
