Walter S. Chess, Jr.
"Buster"
Age 65, of Joliet, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home with his loving family at his side. Walter bravely battled muscular dystrophy for much of his adult life.
Born November 21, 1951 in Joliet, he was a graduate of Joliet Township High School. Wally was a handy man who could fix anything.
Surviving are his beloved daughter, Dena (Eric) Schlunz; one sister, Judy (Charles) Mistakovich; one niece, Diane Wright; one nephew, William Mistakovich; a great-niece, Sabrina Wright; his former spouse, Elida Chess; and a step-brother, Mike Schulte. He is also survived by three dear friends who were always there for him, Billy Newman, Frank Orenic and Bob Ongenae.
He was preceded by his father, Walter (Louise) Chess, Sr. and his mother, Lucille (Sinchak) Chess.
Visitation for Walter S. Chess, Jr. will be held Friday, January 13, 2017 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet. Cremation rites will be accorded following services and burial of his urn in Woodlawn Memorial Park will be private.
