Milfred J. Cushing
"Mel"
Age 81. Friday, May 4, 2007 the Lord relieved Mel of his earthly suffering as only his God could. He will be missed by all who knew him, and remembered for his boundless energy, endless generosity, and wonderful sense of humor.
Mel was a WWII Army veteran, a member of Cantigny VFW Post #367, American Legion Post #5, Knights of Columbus Council #382, and a charter member of the St. John's Mens Club.
He retired from many years of employment at Ceco/Thomas Steel, then owned and operated his own company, Cushing Electric.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Rose; his beloved wife of 41 years, Lucille (nee Hoffmeyer); his loving daughter, Carol; his brothers, Robert and Cyril; and his sisters, Marge (Stan) Pirc, Dorothy (Bob) Rogers, Rose Ann (George) Skory, and Lorraine Cushing.
Mel is survived by five sons, William (Debra), Michael, Paul (Cathy), Richard (Teresa), and Daniel (Patty); three daughters, Patricia (Greg) Lafeldt, Mary Beth (Angelo) DeAngelis, and Joan (Richard) Thompson; one brother, George (late Sylvia); two sisters, Rita (Jack) Smith and Mary (Fred) Ross; 13 grandchildren, Brian, Matt and Jeffrey Cushing, Mary Cushing, Michael, Philip, Nikki and Dominic DeAngelis, Amy and Jenny Thompson, and Grace, Owen and Olivia Cushing; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Milfred J. "Mel" Cushing will be Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Visitation Monday 2-8 p.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home.
