Joan Maria (nee Westman) Wiegmann, age 83, of Joliet, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at the Symphony of Joliet.
Born December 6, 1933 in Chicago, she was a graduate of Cardinal Stritch High School. She worked for Teletypesetter Corporation.
Joan was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the Parish Council, St. John's Mother's Club and the Joliet Catholic Mother's Club. She was also a member of the Channahon Gardening Club, was a former Cub Scout Den Mother, and a volunteer at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center.
Joan was a loving wife, mom, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved taking care of her family. She enjoyed camping, cross country skiing, gardening, afternoon tea, reading, swimming and boating at Lily Cache Recreation Club, traveling, spending the winters in Florida, and connecting with family and friends on the computer.
Surviving are her beloved husband of 60 years, Robert A. Wiegmann; her children, Loreen Carpenter, Sharon (Dave) Orphey, Beth (Chip) Burczak, Cathleen (Bill) Doran, Robert (the late Rose) Wiegmann, Patricia (Brad) Blue, Gregory (Karen) Wiegmann, and Elaine (Mark) Doran; 21 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Claudia Manning; a brother-in-law, James (Anita) Wiegmann; and nieces and nephews: Mark (Beth) Westman, Scott (Heather) Westman, Michael (Jennifer) Wiegmann, Michelle (Greg) Burdett, Mary Theresa Janovyak, Janet Williams, Carol (Louis) Konc, Karen Roller, and Helen Burkheimer.
She was preceded by her parents, Mildred and John Westman; and one brother, John Westman.
Funeral Services for Joan Wiegmann will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017, 9:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, IL to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Mass. Interment St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery. Visitation Friday 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
