Mary J. Kaffer
(nee Sullivan)
Age 67. Peacefully on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL following a courageous battle with leukemia with her family by her side. Born in Joliet, a graduate of Joliet Township High School Class of 1967. Retired from J.U.L.I.E. as a call center operator after many years of service. Mary's family was her life, caring for them, loving them, and seeing the world through their eyes was her life's work.
Preceded by her infant daughter, Nicole M. Kaffer (1984); her parents, John and Bernadette (nee Lambert) Sullivan; and one brother, John L. Sullivan, Jr.
Survived by her loving and devoted husband, Robert "Bob" Kaffer, Jr. of Plainfield; two sons, Jason C. (Theresa) White of Oswego and Timothy R. (Catherine) Kaffer of Wheeling; one daughter, Elizabeth K. (fiancé Nick Medved) Kaffer of Plainfield; two sisters, Janet Anderson and Judith Newman both of Joliet; and one sister-in-law, Joan Sullivan of Crest Hill. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Funeral Services for Mary J. Kaffer will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, IL to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. As it was Mary's request, cremation rites will be accorded following her visitation.
