Age 66. Passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Chicago and residing in Shorewood since 2006. Retired from Building Computer Data Centers in 2004. One of Jerry's greatest professional accomplishments was building the data center for Orbitz. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Marines with three tours in Vietnam. Playing cards was his passion with Three Card Poker, Let It Ride, and Caribbean Stud as his favorites.

 

Survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 28 years, Susan Shannon (nee Lamphere); step-children, Christine (Adam) Smuczerowicz and Dan Shannon; one sister, Collette Schevic; one brother, Alan Holda; nieces, Barb Janus, Toni Janus, Bridgette Janus; and nephews, John Janus (whom Jerry could never thank enough for the gift of his kidney given to him by John in 2010), and Greg Janus. Many great nieces and great nephews also survive. A sincere thank you for your continued support, love, and friendship to his brothers in the PTSD Chapter One, Joliet, IL group.

 

Preceded by his mother, Dorothy Vizzio (nee Kezon); twin brother, Larry Lachowicz; brother, Joseph Lachowicz, Jr.; and sister, Cathy Monahan.

 

Family and friends of Gerald "Jerry" Lachowicz will gather on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, IL 60431 to process to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Committal Service with full military honors under the auspices of the United States Marines will be held at 12:00 NOON.
