Obituary of William C. Keck

William C. Keck "Bill" Age 89. Passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017 at his late residence surrounded by his loving family. Born in Chicago, the son of the late William D. and Alta (Cryderman) Keck. He was raised in New Lenox where he attended New Haven Grade School. Residing in Joliet most of his life. Graduate of Joliet Central High School class of 1945. During high school he worked for WCLS Radio as an announcer. A W.W.II U.S. Army Veteran, proud member of the 11th Airborne Paratroopers. Bill worked many jobs to support his family, to name a few, he worked for the City of Joliet as a draftsman, George Reiter & Associates, Olin Chemical, Shep's Gas Station, Mark Shale/Al Baskin and Rockwell International, where he retired from in 1992. Following retirement, Helen and Bill moved to Tucson, AZ where he did Volunteer work at Tohono Chul Park and loved each day he was there, he was also a spotter for the LPGA. They returned home to Joliet in 2005 to spend time with family. A former usher at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Crest Hill. An avid artist and golfer, proud member of the Joliet Artists League, The Pleiners Painters and American Legion Post #1080. Survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Helen (Mantel) Keck of Joliet; beloved father of Jeff (Janie) Keck of Joliet, Betty (Dan) Horschler of Shorewood and Randy Keck of Minooka; devoted grandfather of Terri (Tony) Horwath, Brian (Trisha) Keck, Matthew Horschler, Adam (Becka) Horschler, Robert (Katie) Keck, Joshua Keck , Mallory Keck; and seven great grandchildren. Preceded by his son, David in infancy; his daughter, Terrie (1951-1966); and his parents. Funeral Services for William C. Keck will be held Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to the Church of St. Jude for Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Interment St. John Cemetery. Memorials in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
