Obituary of Emery Darling

Emery C. Darling Age 87, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at home. Beloved husband of 60 years to Dorothy M. Darling. He was a much loved uncle of five nieces and one nephew, Harriet (Edward) Richards, Janet (late Raymond) Reardon, the late Nancy and Patrick Coyne, Diane (Norman Allan) Keck, Patsy (Donald) Janes and Ronald (Edna) Reeves. Preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Amy Darling; three sisters, Elnora (Harry) Rasmussen, Alta (Walter) Reeves, and Stella (George) Rambo. He was also preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Ethel "Tootie" and brother-in-law, Elmer "Bill" Block. He was a dear uncle of their three sons, Gregg (Karen) Block, Dale (Michelle) Block and Michael (Karen) Block. He graduated from Joliet Township High School Class of 1941. He retired from the American Institute of Laundry, and later managed The Tinder Box at the Louis Joliet Mall. An Army Veteran of World War II, he was a member of St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Plainfield and the Joliet Moose Lodge #300. Dorothy and all the family especially want to thank Edna, Judy, Razel and Tess, Emery's caregivers, for their kindness and excellent care. Funeral Services for Emery C. Darling will be Monday, January 4, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment Plainfield Township Cemetery.
