Age 86. At Rest Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born February 13, 1931 in Joliet, IL, the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (nee O'Mara) Voitik. A graduate of St. Mary Carmelite and St. Francis Academy. She was a member of VFW Cantigny #367 Auxiliary and the American Legion Post 1080. Her favorite hobbies included reading, knitting, playing bingo. She was an avid White Sox fan. Mary was an active member of St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church for over 60 years.
Mary is survived by her children, Patricia A. Murphy, Michael J. (Debra), Richard A. (Susan), Irene M., James J. and Rose Wilkinson;
grandchildren, Stephen (Megan), Adam (Joanna), Matthew, Murphy, Ben and Becky Mahalik, Sarah (John) Sicinski, Laura (Ryan) Gira, Kelli (Jesse) Marlo, Teresa (Chris) Jones, Katie Murphy, Shannon (Lou) Colon and Brandon Murphy, James R. (Kayla-Danielle), Jonathan ( Taylor) and Catie Murphy, Alyssa and Andrew Wilkinson;
great-grandchildren, Matthew and Raegan Mahalik, Sammy and Simon Sicinski, Collin and Connor Gira, Eve and Eileen Mahalik, Caden and Nolan Marlo, Charlotte and Anthony Jones and Jackson Colon. sister, Joan Forzley ; brother, Joseph (Marilyn) Voitik and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded by her beloved husband of 62 years, James R. Murphy (2013); her parents; sister; Rose Naasz and brother; Timothy Voitik.
Funeral Services for Mary L. Murphy will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 9:45 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 129 S. Division Street, Plainfield where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
