Joaquina "Kena" M. Alamillo
(nee Marquez)

Age 66. Passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.  Born on April 17, 1951 to Kenneth Marquez and Henrietta Sanchez.  A resident of Lockport, formerly of Joliet. She retired from Silver Cross Hospital after 31 years of dedicated service.  Kena was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.  

Survived by her three children, Anita (Angel) Garcia, Raquel (Alan) Cottle and Ricky (Jennifer) Alamillo; grandchildren, Alex, Tony, Ava, Ricky, Jr. Olivia and Eva; Siblings, Tony (Arlene) Marquez, Sandra Suarez, Mike (Connie) Marquez, Debbie (Craig) Johnston, Robert Sanchez, John (Kathy) Romo and Monica Murphy;  Tom Alamillo; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded by her parents; one daughter, Monica Teresa Alamillo; her brother-in-law, Juan Suarez; and sister-in-law, Karen Marquez.

The family would like to send a special Thank You to the doctors, nurses and staff at Joliet Area Community Hospice for their care and compassion.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Monday, May 8, 2017, at St. Dennis Church, 1214 S Hamilton St. Lockport, IL 60441  from 9:30 a.m. until the time of her Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m.  As it was her wish, cremation rites have been accorded.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.  For information, please call 815-741-5500 or visit her Memorial Tribute at www.fredcdames.co
