Raymond V. Shroba
 
Age 87, a lifetime Joliet, IL resident passed peacefully, surrounded by his family, Sunday June 11, 2017 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.

He was born May 27, 1930 to the late Dr. Raymond V. and May (nee Vavra) Shroba.

Ray was formerly employed as a Supervisor at Caterpillar Inc. in Joliet. As a professional pilot, he served Commuter Airlines, Hub Airlines, American Courier, Airwich Airlines,Inc., Jemco Engineering, and Brown & Lambrecht. He eventually retired in 2002 from Montgomery Ward after a rewarding career that was centered on great relationships and sound customer service.

A former Joliet Park District Commissioner/President and past President of the Marycrest PTA, Ray was also a member of AF & AM Lodge #42 Mt. Joliet (Masons), the Joliet Radio Control Club and a founding member of the Joliet Model Airplane Club.

Survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Nancy A. (nee Nelson) Shroba; three children, Raymond V.  (Patricia) Shroba III, John N. Shroba and Judy A. (Alan) Thompson; five grandchildren, Raymond V. (Kathy) Shroba IV, Carrie (Andrew) Little, Melanie (Jason) Pershall, Patrick J. (Samantha) Shroba and Samantha (Shaun) Lee; six great-grandchildren, Matthew, Katelyn, Neil, Kaleb, Yvonne and Harper.  Also surviving are a sister, Dorothy Radke; brother-in-law, Andrew Joseph and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents and sister Shirley Joseph.

Funeral services for Raymond V. Shroba will be held Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.)
