Leo R. Corp
Leo R. Corp, age 83, of Joliet, passed away peacefully, Monday, June 12, 2017 at Senior Star Memory Care at Weber Place, Romeoville, with his family by his side.
Born March 12, 1934 in Joliet, he was the son of the late Francis Joseph and Loretta Bernadine (nee Relf) Corp, and was a graduate of Joliet Catholic High School. He proudly served with the United States Army from 1956-58. Leo retired from the former Crosfield Chemical, now ICI Corporation, after 37 years of faithful service.
Leo was an active member of St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church where he served many years as an usher and also a Bingo volunteer. He was also a former member and officer of the Joliet Rivals Club. Most of all, Leo enjoyed spending time with his entire family.
He was a loving husband, a devoted father, a cherished son-in-law, brother and uncle; and a dear friend.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 58 years, Sandra J. (nee Puhl) Corp; two sons, Paul J. (Peggy A.) Corp of Madison, WI, and David M. Corp of Joliet; his nieces and nephews, Roberta (Edward) McDermott, Gordon (Linda) Corp, Jr., Mark Corp, Rachael Corp, Donald E. Corp, Jr., Michael Corp, and Ann E. Corp; and several great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Francis Laverne (Elizabeth) Corp, Donald Edward Corp, and Gordon Raymond (Rosetta) Corp, Sr.; and a niece, Kay Lynn Corp.
The family would like to thank the staff of Senior Star Memory Care at Weber Place for their loving support and for going above and beyond in caring for Leo.
Funeral services for Leo R. Corp will be held Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet, to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church for Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Mary Nativity Maintenance Fund, the Greater Illinois (Joliet) Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association to be used for research, or a charity of the donor’s choice, would be appreciated.
