William M. Stirbis
"Bill"
Age 59, of Joliet, IL, died suddenly at home, Sunday, June 18, 2017. He was born January 19, 1958 to Margaret (nee Ftacek) and the late William S. Stirbis. Billy began his career as a Laborer on November 19, 1976 with Local #75, and was elected to office April 21, 2005 before retiring on April 1, 2015.
He was the beloved husband of 38 years to Valerie (nee Cavanaugh) Stirbis; loving father of Kelly (John) Christensen, Jenny Stirbis and Katy Stirbis; proud grandfather of Sophia, Brynn, Logan, Kenzie and the late Aaden; dearest son of Margaret Stirbis; fond brother of Peggy Stewart, Sharron Stirbis, Cheryl Stirbis and the late David Stirbis. He will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews, many of who knew him as "Uncle Buck".
Bill, the former President of Local #75, enjoyed several hobbies throughout the years, including ice fishing, hunting, baseball, football and fishing. His favorite pastime was watching his daughters and grand kids participate in sporting events. He was a fast pitch softball fanatic.
Visitation for Bill Stirbis will be held Wednesday June 21, 2017 from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. for immediate family and close friends at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery in Joliet.
