Obituary of James A. Mascola

James A. Mascola
“Jamberry”

Passed away peacefully, at the age of 69, in Largo, FL following complications suffered from a stroke.  He was born in Chicago, IL and a lifelong resident of Blue Island, IL before retiring to Indian Rocks Beach, FL over 20 years ago.  James was a graduate of Marion Catholic High School and a proud Veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served in Vietnam. He retired from the Sprinkler Fitters Union Local #281 after over 25 years of faithful service and brotherhood.  He was formerly employed at the Chicago Rock Island and Pacific Railroad as a signalman for many years.  Jim loved playing “old-timers softball” with his friends in Indian Rock Beach.  In his early years, he lived to play football for the Blue Island Untouchables, the team that was coached by his father and that his sister was a cheerleader for.  His favorite pastimes were riding his Harley, jumping on his skidoo and riding the waves and spending time with family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James L. and Ruth M. (nee Schickling) Mascola.

Jim is survived by his son, Marco Mascola; his daughter, Brittney (Matt) Weinhart; two grandchildren; one sister, Pam (Joel) Ficek; his fiancée, Sonia McKibben of Indian Rocks Beach, FL; one niece; and one nephew.
