Dennis D. Deffenbaugh passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center. He was born in Joliet, the son of the late Max and Marie (Linskey) Deffenbaugh. Dennis was a lifelong Joliet resident and graduated from Joliet Catholic High School, Class of 1976. He retired in 2015 from the Will County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy Correctional Officer, following 33 years of dedicated service. Dennis was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Emerald Society of Chicago, Joliet F.O.P Lodge #58 and the Moran A.C. He was an avid Cubs Fan, Green Bay Packers fan, a John Wayne enthusiast, as well as a Jimmy Buffett fan. Dennis was a proud American. He loved the red, white and blue and thoroughly enjoyed celebrating the 4th of July.
He was the loving husband of Patti (Swinke) of Plainfield; Daddy dog to his canine Golden Retriever, Finnegan; the dearest brother of Kathy (Gene) Fordonski of New Lenox; special brother-in-law to Kathy (Phil) Calahan, Bill (Barb) Swinke, and Cindy (Rich) Brower; proud uncle of Mike, Rich, Stephanie, Rebecca, David, Michelle, Chrissy, Nick and Carla; several great nieces, great nephews and cousins also survive.
Preceded by his parents; his in laws, William and Velma Swinke; his nephew, Sean Fordonski; and his niece, Sarah Brower.
Funeral Services for Dennis D. Deffenbaugh will be Thursday, July 6, 2017, at 11:00 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet, IL. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the family would be appreciated.
