Evelyn M. Herbst

Age 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at Lakewood Nursing and Rehabilitation in Plainfield, with her loving family by her side. She was born March 26, 1926 in Joliet, IL to the late Anna "Corky" (nee Tierney) and James Ward.
Surviving are her three sons, Daniel (Shirley Cinotto) of LaGrange, IL, Michael (Pauline) of Plainfield, IL and Timothy (Marcia) of Los Altos, CA; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty Herbst of Manhattan, IL; former daughter-in-law, Deb DeSurne and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Robert J. Herbst; her parents; stepfather, Fred Corcoran; two brothers, Thomas and William Ward; daughter-in-law, Donna Herbst and dear cousin, Marilyn Johnson.
Evelyn was proud of her Irish heritage, faithfully attending the annual Southside Irish Parade. She was a sweet "Gram" who possessed a sweet tooth. See's Candies were her favorite!
Funeral services for Evelyn M. Herbst will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 11:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL to St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 15629 S. Route 59, Plainfield, IL where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville, IL. Visitation is Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until services begin at the funeral home.
