Beverly Ann Scholtes (nee Jones) passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2017 peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family.  Beverly was a lifelong resident of Joliet, born on February 3, 1941.

She was preceded in death by her father Joseph P. Jones and mother Mildred F. Jones (nee Webb). Bev is survived by her loving and devoted husband James Scholtes; her sister, Kathleen (Jim) Fitzgibbon and their son Matthew of Chicago.   She is also survived by her children; Joan (Edward) Bowman of Shorewood, Daniel (Fiancée Jane Houdek) of Joliet, Thomas (Cathy) of Braidwood, Dianne (Bob) Riboul of LaGrange and Patrick Scholtes (Jen Colstock) of Wilmington.  Bev was adored by her grandchildren; Nick (Kristina) Centracchio, Anna Bowman, Michael Bowman, Jessica Scholtes, Jordan Scholtes, Isla Riboul, Bobby Riboul and Sarah Riboul.  She is also survived by her sisters in law, Phyllis Scholtes, Marianne Revels, Kay Zlogar, and Eloise (Bill) Malinowski along with many nieces and nephews.

Bev graduated from St. Patrick’s Grade School class of 1955 in Joliet where she met many of her lifelong friends.  Bev then graduated from St. Francis Academy class of 1959 in Joliet where she met her husband Jim, a graduate of Catholic High class of 1958. Jim and Bev fell in love and married after high school on June 18, 1960 where they remained lifelong residents after building their family home next to high school friends Dick and Millie Schuster. Bev and Jim were members of the St. Paul the Apostle parish and community.  Jim and Bev recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.  Jim and Bev enjoyed travelling especially to Hawaii, New Zealand, Ireland and spent the winter months in Mesa, Arizona.  Bev’s passion was her family and having her children and grandchildren around her. Bev touched countless lives with her love and kindness.   She always made you feel like you were walking into your own kitchen when you walked into hers.  A friend of any of ours was a friend of hers.

Funeral Services for Beverly Ann Scholtes will be Wednesday July 26, 2017 at 10:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black (at Essington Rds.)  to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will be in Mt.
