William N. Davis


William "Bill" Davis, a lifetime Morris, IL resident, died peacefully, Monday July 24, 2017 at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, IL.  He was born October 1, 1932 the son of Gordon "Mickey" Davis and Maude Davis in Morris, IL where he was raised and educated, a graduate with the class of 1950 from Morris Community High School.

A United States Army Veteran, Bill served from 1953 until being honorably discharged in 1955 at the conclusion of the Korean War. He worked as a linotype operator for many years with the Morris Daily Herald. Later, he was hired as a maintenance superintendent of Grundy Area Vocational Center in Morris (GAVC). In semi-retirement he worked for Narvick Apartments.

He is survived by his sons, Scott Davis and Steve Davis; four gandchildren, and his brother Richard Davis.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ralph Davis.

There will be no wake or funeral services. All friends and relatives can gather Monday July 31, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Rt. 6 (at Deerpath Dr.) Morris, IL to join the procession to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood where committal prayers and military honors will begin at 12:30 p.m.  Interment will immediately follow.

Bill always commented about the kindness of the nurses from Joliet Area Community Hospice and nurses and staff at Aperion Care Center in Wilmington where he resided the past several years.  For those wishing to remember Bill, please consider a contribution to either organization in his memory.
