Richard J. Stapinski
Age 88, passed away peacefully, Monday, July 17, 2017 in Palm Springs, California just one day before his brother, Frank. He was the son of Joseph and Mary (nee Baldyga) Stapinski. Richard was a proud United States Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was retired from the U.S. Postal service after 20 years of service and was previously a stock broker for twenty years.
He is survived by his “grandkids”, Tracy Moniz and Sandra Sernelius; five great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded by his wife, Elaine Mears (nee Hansen) Stapinski and his brother, Frank Stapinski (2017) who will be buried with honors with his brother.
Richard enjoyed the desert and California lifestyle. He resided in Palm Springs for 55 years. In his free-time he liked dancing, Broadway shows and occasional trips to a “good” casino.
Richard will be laid to rest simultaneously alongside his brother, Frank in the Columbaria of Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL on Friday August 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Full military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the United States Army and the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Squad.
