Obituary of Walter J. Hasse, Sr.
Walter J. “Mickey” Hasse, Sr., age 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center with his loving family at his side.
Born April 30, 1936 in Joliet, and a resident of Plainfield the past 41 years, he attended St. John the Baptist Grade School and Joliet Catholic High School. Mickey was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he proudly served aboard the USS Charles R. Ware, DD865. He was the Owner and Operator of Walter Hasse Carpet Cleaning and Installation. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Mickey was always involved with his children's sports and activities, thoroughly enjoyed being surrounded by his grandchildren, and was an avid follower of Joliet Catholic football. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Marianne (nee Donick) Hasse of Plainfield; his four children, Walter Jr. (Angie), Loretta Chartrand, Daniel and Phillip (Jacqueline) Hasse; six grandchildren, Cadey Chartrand, Lillian, Dylan, Anthony, Ella, and Emily Hasse; and his older sister, Anna Marie Blazevic. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
He is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Lorraine; his parents, Albert and Mary L. (nee Glass) Hasse; and his sister, Madeline Hasse.
Funeral Services for Mickey Hasse will be held Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 10:45 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. As it was Mickey's request, cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation. Inurnment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
