Obituary of George David Strode
David Strode
”Dave”
George David “Dave” Strode, age 58, of Shorewood, passed away peacefully, Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Edward Hospital, Naperville, surrounded by his loving family. Born February 23, 1959 in Joliet, he attended Joliet East High School and was a graduate of Lewis University. He worked for Caterpillar Inc., as a Project Manager in the Information Technology Department.
Dave will be remembered as a loving husband, a sacrificial father, and an adored “Papa” to his grandchildren. He was a man whose love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of his life and the example his children seek to emulate in their life and marriage. Because of this, his family has peace knowing he is now in perfect and eternal union with the Lord. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf, boating, and snacking on peanut M&M’s and mints.
Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Sharman L. (Swanson) Strode of Shorewood; four children, Jason David (Jennifer) Strode of Wilmington, Justin Michael (Nina) Strode of Crest Hill, Joel Tyler (Lexi) Strode of Minneapolis, MN, and Joy Nicole Strode of Shorewood; his grandchildren, Kylie, Mackenzie, Joshua, Daniel, Bjorn, Eames, and a seventh on the way; his parents, George Dean and Virginia Margaret (Zogg) Strode of Sun City, AZ; two sisters, Denise (Roy) Lorenz of Peoria, and Robin (Joseph) Tonkin of Canton; and several nieces and nephews.
Services for David Strode will be held Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Minooka Bible Church, 412 N. Wabena Avenue, Minooka, IL 60447. Dave had hoped a party in his honor would mark his passing, and so a Celebration of Life will immediately follow services at the church. He was laid to rest in Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the “David Strode Memorial Fund for his Grandchildren’s Education” would be appreciated. Fred C. Dames Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
