Michael A. Apostolou
Michael A. Apostolou, 86, of North Port, Florida, formerly of Joliet, Illinois, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on August 16, 2017. He immigrated to the United States in 1951 from his birthplace of Mykonos Island, Greece. Michael was the former owner of M.E.N., Inc., specializing in Industrial Coatings. He was a lifetime member of IUPAT, past President of Mykonos Society of Joliet, retired and relocated to Florida in 2002.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Michele (nee Schwartzers); daughter Maria (late Dan), son Anthony (Paulette), son Pete (Julie), son Michael (Robin); step daughter, Jackie (John) England; grandchildren, Victoria (Joseph) Murray, William Meiners, Jamie Apostolou, Michael IV (Amy) Apostolou, Anthony Apostolou, Matthew (Elizabeth) Apostolou, Joshua Apostolou, Alyssa Apostolou and Elizabeth Apostolou; step grandchildren, Megan England and Brian England; and great-grandchildren, Tristian Meiners, Sebastian Meiners, Calliope Apostolou, Natalie Apostolou and Jaxson Apostolou. Also survived by sister Erini, sister Georgia (late George) Vardal of Pireaus, Greece, brother George (Paula), brother Pete (Kiki) of Mykonos, Greece, sister Nikki (Dino) Kotaki of Athens, Greece, mother-in-law Madeleine Schwartzers, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his dear first wife Effa (nee Lyons), father Anthony, mother Maria (nee Boni), sister, Stamata (Evangelos) Alimandiris, and several infant siblings.
Funeral services for Michael Apostolou will be held Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, IL. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until time of services.
