Obituary of Theodore Deimer

Deimer, Theodore J. Age 83. Passed away peacefully at home Monday, May 9, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Born March 23, 1928, he was a lifelong resident of Joliet. He served four years active duty in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War as a jet fighter pilot and twenty years in the Active Marine Corps Reserves retiring with the rank of Major. Graduate of the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana, with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and then attended DePaul Law School, Chicago. Employed with Commonwealth Edison, Kerite Cable, Cablec, Transamerica Financial Service, and President of Deimer and Garrels, Inc. Member of NSPE, ISPE, CLU, CFA, and AHEPA. Past Parish Council President and lifelong member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church. Preceded in death by his parents James and Helen Deimer; granddaughter, Nicole Heenan; sister, Nola (Dr. Stanley) Rousonelos. Survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Katherine (nee Dragatsis); five daughters, Ann (Mike) Haywood, Elaine (John) Heenan, Chrisy (Robert) Romac, Constance (Peter) Stark, and Stephane (Adam) Collopy; one son James (Monika) Deimer; fifteen grandchildren, Michael and Mathew Haywood, Katina (Peter) Kaftantzis, Allysha and Danielle Heenan, Jamie, Theo, and Nina Romac, Nicholas, Dominic, and Anastasia Stark, Teddy, Tony, Timmy, and Tommy Deimer; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Christo and Mary Dragatsis, seven godchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A special thanks to Joliet Area Community Hospice and to Joel, Renato, Arthur, Jason, and Troy from Excellent Home Care Givers, Inc. for their compassionate care. Funeral services for Theodore J. Deimer will be Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 8:30 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 102 N. Broadway, Joliet, IL 60435, for services at 9:30 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery where full military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the United States Marine Corps. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church Endowment Fund or Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Wednesday, 2-4 and 6-9 p.m., with Trisagion Services at 8:00 p.m. officiated by Fr. Stephen Bithos at: FRED C.
