“Art”
Arthur M. Lake, Sr. passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Silver Cross Hospital surrounded by his loving family at the age of 77. Art was born in Joliet, the son of the late Corlie and Margaret (nee Blake) Lake. He was formerly employed by Mastic Tile Co., Ruberoid (GAF), Westside Rentals and retired from Channahon General Rentals. Art was a member of Parkview Christian Church, Ingalls Park A.C., Belmont A.C., Lockport Moose and WRC Pigeon Club. He took great pride in racing pigeons.
Art is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Judy (nee Gordon) Lake of Joliet; his six children, Art (Anita) Lake, Jr. of Joliet, Randall (Trish) Lake of Braidwood, Wade Lake of Joliet, Wendy Jo (Bob) Churchill of Elwood, Brian (Jennifer) Lake of Elwood and Timothy (Sarah) Lake of Joliet; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; his sister, Cecelia Veihl of Joliet; one brother, Jim Lake of Joliet; brother in law of Ronald and Sharon Fullriede of New Lenox; several nieces and nephews and his bonus kids, George and Judy Sikic of Joliet.
He was preceded by his son, Kenneth Lake (2004); grandson, Michael Lake (1995); three sisters, Lillian Shawmeker, Frances Butler and Caroline McKanna and four brothers, Corlie, George, Eddie and Jack Lake.
Funeral Services for Art Lake, Sr. will be Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Interment will be in Elmhurst Cemetery.
