Javier Porras

Javier Porras passed away peacefully Thursday, August 31, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family.  Born May 30, 1954 he was the son of Maria (nee Coronado) and the late Alfonso Porras, Sr.

He is survived by his mother, Maria; three daughters, Cynthia, Lisa and Ricarda; fourteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; siblings, Alfonso Porras, Jr., Elvie (Felipe) Salgado, Maria I. (Joe) Albor, James (Olivia) Porras, Gerardo Porras and Raul Porras. Many aunts,uncles,nieces,nephews and cousins also survive.

Javier was preceded in death by his father, Alfonso Porras, Sr.

He had been employed by Waste Management for several years as a machine operator in their recycling division, and prior to that he was a laborer.  He liked fishing, music, the outdoors, animals and you could often find Javier working on his car which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Funeral Services for Javier Porras will be Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to Holy Cross Catholic Church, 901 Elizabeth St. Joliet where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.  As it was his wish, cremation rites will be accorded following services and his final earthly remains will be interred near  those of his late father at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, IL at a later date.  Visitation will be Monday September 4, 2017 from 2 – 9 p.m. at the funeral home.  For more information, please call 815-741-5500 or visit his Memorial Tribute at www.fredcdames.com

Prayers at the Funeral Home Chapel will be held at 9:00 a.m. before processing to the Church.
