Obituary of Gloria Diaz

Gloria Diaz
(nee Martinez)

Age 59, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, surrounded by her loving family.  

Gloria was born in Mexico, and her family brought her to Joliet at the age of six.   She has been a Real Estate Broker for over 25 years.  Her drive and determination gave her the strength to work until she could not help her clients any longer.  She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus.  Gloria loved life.  She was a very spiritual woman whose greatest love was spending time with her family and friends.  Family dinners were a very special time for just being together, especially because she was an accomplished cook.  

Preceded by her son , Eric Diaz (1998); her parents, Benjamin and Guadalupe Martinez; one sister, Rosa Martinez; and one brother, Foye Martinez.

Survived by her loving husband, Juan Diaz, of Joliet; her son, Joseph (Caryn) Diaz, of Plainfield; one daughter, Iris (Peter) Guiliani of Moweaqua, IL ; one stepson, Juan Carlos Diaz; two stepdaughters, Kathrine Diaz and Carina Diaz, all of Joliet; two stepgranddaughters, Gabrielle Horvat and Samantha Horvat, both of Joliet; one grandson, Paul Anthony Palloch; brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and five grand puppies, Donny, Bella, Roxi, Tallulah and Fynn who will all miss her dearly.  

Funeral Services for Gloria Diaz will be Friday September 22, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery.  As it was Gloria’s request, cremation rites have been accorded.  Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m.  For information call 815-741-5500 or visit her Memorial Tribute at www.fredcdames.com
