Sonja Kay Berger
Age 53. Passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side. Sonja was born in Waterloo, IA to the late Kenneth and Dorothy Long. She moved to Morris as a newlywed with her loving husband of 34 years, Ted Berger. Sonja and Ted had two sons, Heath (Francesca) Berger and Clifton (Katie) Berger. She worked for many years at District 54 in various roles, including teacher's assistant and in the cafeteria. Sonja loved the outdoors and camping, and she loved going on motorcycle rides with Ted.
Sonja is also survived by her brothers Kevin Long and Darwin (Tina) Long; her sister Mary (Jason) Bond; father-in-law Dallas Berger; and numerous nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
She preceded by her parents; and her brothers, George Long, Paul Long, and David Long.
A Memorial Gathering for Sonja Kay Berger will be held on Friday, September 29, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until time of services at 8 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home Chapel, 1201 W. U.S. Route 6 at Deerpath Drive, Morris. As it was her final wish, cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials in her name may be made to the Grundy County Hospice.
