Obituary of Thomas Dempsey SR
Thomas Francis Dempsey, Sr.
Age 89. Passed away Thursday, May 15, 2008 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born July 24, 1918 in Minooka, IL to Edwin A. and Anna Frances (nee Zimmerman) Dempsey, he was a longtime area resident and farmed in the Lockport area many years. He then lived in Lansing, IL where he worked for Pullman-Standard, before retiring to Golden, MO in 1990.
Survived by one son, Thomas Francis Dempsey, Jr. of Elwood; seven daughters, Mary Lou Harvey of Lockport, Arlene Frances (Basil) Hicks of Wilmington, Kathleen Marie Harris of Monett, MO, Patricia Ann Dempsey of Elwood, Rosemary Cunningham of Thornton, IL, Cynthia Ann Pressly of Golden, MO and Jacalynn Sue (Carl) Holden of Merrillville, IN; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Bernadine (late Anthony) Petak of Joliet; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded by his first wife, Veronica (nee Thieler) Dempsey (1965); his second wife, Kathryn (nee McLean) Dempsey (2007); one sister, Dorothy (Joe) Wysocki; and one brother, Robert (Joan) Dempsey.
Funeral Services for Thomas Francis Dempsey, Sr. will be Monday, May 19, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home to St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Lockport for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Sunday 2-8 p.m. at:
