Obituary of Dorothy DeSandre

Dorothy L. DeSandre Age 90. Passed away Monday, August 3, 2009 at her late residence. Born May 2, 1919 in Joliet, to the late Arthur and Louise (nee Thurm) Mitchell, and a lifelong Joliet resident. Member of St. Peter Lutheran Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher and member of the Senior Club. Enjoyed bowling at Town & Country Lanes, Bingo, and Polka on Tour, and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Worked as a certified nursing assistant at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center, Silver Cross Hospital, and Joliet Terrace Nursing Home. Survived by four sons and four daughters: Dr. Frank (Pam) DeSandre of Crump, TN, Arnold (Layne) DeSandre of Murchison, TX, Kathryn Wright of Joliet, Marjory DeSandre of Freeport, IL, Hank (Peggy) DeSandre of Gulfport, MS, Aldo (Iris) DeSandre of New Lenox, Ruth (Ron) Meyer of Joliet and Sally DeSandre of Joliet; 22 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded by her former husband, Otto DeSandre (1978); her granddaughter, Denise DeSandre (2006); her parents; three brothers, Manley, Arthur and Frank Mitchell, and a daughter-in-law, Kathy DeSandre. Funeral services for Dorothy L. DeSandre will be Thursday, August 6, 2009 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 310 N. Broadway, Joliet where she will Lie in State from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorials to St. Peter's Radio Ministry, Joliet Area Community Hospice or Trinity Services would be appreciated. Arrangements by: FRED C.
